Corning Meals on Wheels Statement on Federal Developments Regarding the Administration on Community Living

Recent news coverage, including a story published in The New York Times, has brought attention to the potential dismantling or reduction of the federal Administration on Community Living (ACL), an agency that helps oversee programs funded through the Older Americans Act — including senior nutrition programs.

While these developments are understandably concerning for many, we want to reassure our community that Corning Meals on Wheels is not dependent on ACL or federal funding for our operations. Our mission and daily service to deliver nutritious meals and caring contact to homebound seniors will continue uninterrupted regardless of any changes at the federal level.

We understand that national advocacy organizations like Meals on Wheels America are raising awareness around the possible impact of federal cuts, particularly for programs that rely heavily on government funds. However, Corning Meals on Wheels has always operated differently.  We rely primarily on local support, donations, and volunteers — not government dollars — to keep our wheels turning.

We know that this kind of national news can cause fear and uncertainty, especially for the seniors we serve. That’s why we want to say clearly:

Your meals are safe. Our commitment is strong. And we are here for you.

Thank you to our community for your continued support and trust. Together, we will keep delivering more than just meals — we will keep delivering peace of mind.

CMoW is always in need of volunteers - on either a regular or substitute basis.
